District of Columbia Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) data are made available only under a special data sharing agreement (known as a Memorandum of Agreement, or MOA) with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).


To ensure that all children receive a high-quality education, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to report on equity gaps and work to close them.

On Jan. 15, 2019 the District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) evaluated 30 postsecondary non-degree (ND) and degree-granting (D) schools operating or desiring to operate in the District of Columbia on their ability to comply with licensure standards.   


The Healthy Schools Act of 2010 (HSA), DC Official Code § 38-821.01 et seq., is a comprehensive piece of legislation that ensures District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), public charter schools, and participating private schools are a healthy place for all students.
