High-Impact Tutoring Initiative: For LEA and School Leaders

HIT Initiative LEA Leaders Page Banner

Grant opportunity to fund Local Education Agencies to implement high-quality HIT services in schools during the 2024-25 school year.

OSSE's High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) grant funding supports HIT programming in eligible schools. An eligible school has 40% or more of its student body designated as at-risk, which is an indicator of economic disadvantage for DC public and public charter school students.

Schools Eligible for OSSE-Funded HIT Supports
This spreadsheet identifies all schools in DC that are eligible for OSSE-funded HIT supports based on their listed percentage of economically disadvantaged students in the past three years. Schools with at least 70% of students designated as economically disadvantaged, or schools designated as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) schools in the past three years, are priority schools for the HIT Initiative.

HIT Guide
This guide describes the essential components of a strong HIT program and the commitment to continuous improvement that it takes to achieve the quality that students deserve.

High-Impact Tutoring Cost Estimator Tool
OSSE and CityTutor DC created a cost calculator tool to support LEA and school leaders with estimating the cost of implementing various HIT program models to meet the needs of their students.

Free Math Tutoring LessonsCityTutor DC partnered with OSSE, DC Public Schools, and experienced local educators to develop math tutoring lessons for third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students to support the implementation of high-impact tutoring (HIT) across the District. These lessons are aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and are created for the growing pool of tutors who are not trained teachers or have limited math content knowledge. Math curricula for seventh and eight grade is on the way!
