High-Impact Tutoring Initiative: For Family Members and Caretakers

HIT Family Members and Caretakers Webpage Banner

OSSE’s High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) Initiative funds high-quality tutoring programs at schools across the District. Use the resources below to learn more about HIT and to find out where your student can access HIT programs.

CitySchools Collaborative: Tutor and Caregiver Resource Hub
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to consult with these resources for more information about how HIT can benefit students, what makes HIT different from other types of tutoring, who are HIT tutors, and how your student can access programs.

National Student Support Accelerator: Family and Caregiver Toolkit
The National Student Support Accelerator created this tool to help families understand and advocate for high-impact tutoring in their communities. The toolkit’s purpose is to understand what high-impact tutoring is, contribute to your child's success in school, and empower parents and other families to advocate and partner with schools.

Free Grades 3-8 Math Tutoring Lessons
CSC partnered with OSSE, DC Public Schools, and experienced local educators to develop math tutoring lessons for in grades three through eight to support the implementation of high-impact tutoring (HIT) across the District. These lessons are aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and are created for the growing pool of tutors who are not trained teachers or have limited math content knowledge.
