Investment in Schools Grants: Application and Funding

2024 Designation School-level Budget

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Title I, Part A 1003 Investment in Schools (IIS) grant is awarded to schools identified for school improvement in the DC Accountability Framework as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI). The purpose of the funding is to support schools that require a comprehensive reform plan to meet students’ educational needs.

Investment in Schools (IIS) grants are provided to local education agencies (LEAs) to support eligible schools over a three-year period. During the first year of the grant, LEAs complete a needs assessment and resource equity analysis, if applicable. The results support their development of a school improvement plan. The school improvement plan determines how the grant funds will be used in the second and third years of the grant award period.

In December 2024, OSSE identified a new cohort of comprehensive and targeted support and improvement schools for the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) IIS award.
