The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is required to notify the public that the agency is requesting a waiver from the United States Department of Education (ED) to allow OSSE to grant an LEA a waiver of the 15 percent carryover limitation rule. Comments regarding this request must be submitted to OSSE by May 6, 2013. This information will be included in the waiver request to ED. DC Tuition Assistance Grant Program Payments Resumes After Congress Passes the Continuing Resolution

(Washington, D.C.) – In early March, universities serving D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) program students were notified of the delayed payment processing as a result of Public Law 112-175. With both the Senate and House of Representatives passing the Continuing Resolution this week, and the President’s signature expected March 27, vital funding will resume and, funds to universities on behalf of DCTAG students will continue as scheduled.

OSSE Releases FY2013 Draft State Grant Application under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for Public Comment

In order to receive a grant award under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to support the provision of early intervention services to children with disabilities, each state must complete an annual grant application.  To ensure an opportunity for the public to provide input, this application must be posted for 60 calendar days and open for public comment for 30 days within the 60 day period. 

SY12-13 Enrollment Audit Complete, Public-School Enrollment Goes Up For Fourth Consecutive Year

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Student enrollment in the District of Columbia’s public schools increased 5 percent for the 2012-2013 school year, according to final audited data released today by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). The final results indicate an overall increase from 76,753 last year to 80,230 students enrolled statewide this year, and represent both DC Public Schools (DCPS) and DC Public Charter Schools (PCS).
