Specialized Education Policy in Practice Webinar Series: Part B Initial Evaluation/Reevaluation Policy

LEAs hold specific requirements to ensure that children in need of special education and related services are appropriately identified and served.  This includes completing evaluations within prescribed timelines, obtaining parental consent, and determining eligibility based upon criteria contained in federal and local law.  This one-hour webinar training will discuss:

  • Referral for initial evaluation
  • Initial evaluation timeline and requirements, including the Analyze Existing Data (AED) page requirement in SEDS, and eligibility determination
  • Disability categories in the District of Columbia, including an in-depth discussion of Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
  • Reevaluation requirements and process
