Community Schools Incentive Initiative

The Community Schools Incentive Initiative was created by the Community Schools Incentive Act of 2012 (Raising the Expectations for Education Outcomes Omnibus Act of 2012) and provided funding, administered by OSSE, to initially six grantees to create Community Schools. The OSSE currently administers funding to eight grantees. A Community School is a place as well as a set of partnerships between the school and other community organizations. The goal of a Community School is to integrate academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement, in order to improve student outcomes.
