(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) released the 2024 DC School Report Card, a website with school-, local education agency (LEA)- and city-level data about all public schools in the District of Columbia. For the first time this year, there is a new tool for website visitors to compare schools side by side. The website is dynamic, interactive, easy to navigate on both computer and mobile devices and provides a one-stop-shop to learn about all public schools in the District.
“We are excited to share the DC School Report Card with hundreds of data points and a great new school compare feature,” said Interim State Superintendent Dr. Antoinette Mitchell. “The DC School Report Card lets families learn more about the school features that are most important to them and that informs their decision-making for their children.”
The DC School Report Card, available at schoolreportcard.dc.gov, has several new features such as a way to compare up to three schools across key metrics, an updated state assessment performance levels chart, a deeper look into school accountability data and the option for LEAs to add additional photos of their school communities.
New data includes student-teacher ratios, student-staff ratios, rates and counts of referrals to law enforcement and DC Science proficiency. LEAs confirm the accuracy of every data point and piece of information on the DC School Report Card. In addition to being a valuable tool for families, the DC School Report Card is also a data-rich resource that can help drive school improvement by providing District leaders and educators a common set of facts to compare and evaluate school performance in key areas.
The website allows users to look deeper into OSSE’s public reporting, including the most recent graduation rate and attendance data. In the 2023-24 school year, the District’s four-year graduation rate remained steady; 76.1 percent of students in District of Columbia high schools graduated in four years, which remains the highest rate since OSSE began reporting Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate in the 2010-11 school year.

The DC School Report Card is also sharing student attendance data from the 2023-24 school year to accompany the release of OSSE’s annual Attendance Report. Chronic absenteeism and truancy both declined for the second year in a row. Chronic absenteeism decreased 3.9 percentage points while truancy decreased by 6.6 percentage points. On the DC School Report Card, users can examine these data for the District overall as well as for individual schools and LEAs.
The DC School Report Card is a helpful companion for students and families participating in EdFEST, the District’s annual public school fair on Dec. 7 (grades 9-12) and Dec. 14 (pre-K 3-grade 8), as they search for a school that is a good match for their child. Admission for EdFEST is free; pre-registration is required. More information is available at myschooldc.org/events/edfest.
