Educator-Student Linkage Collection

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

The Division of Data, Assessment, and Research will collect teacher and principal data in October to support two required reports to the US Department of Education:

Teacher Shortage Areas (prospective, for the 2016-17 school year); and Teacher and Principal Evaluations (retrospective, for the 2015-16 school year).

These data collections are now available and will close Nov. 4, 2016.

Additional guidance regarding these collections will be provided to DC Staffing Data Collaborative participants, which will be discussed at the Oct. 27 meeting. If you are interested in participating in the DC Staffing Data Collaborative, please contact Laura Montas at [email protected].

In addition, OSSE is offering an optional educator-student linkage collection for the PARCC and MSAA 2015-2016 school year results. Through this collection, OSSE is offering a mechanism for LEAs to provide educators with direct access to appropriate student(s)’ PARCC/MSAA results in SLED and in a secure version of the results.osse.dc.gov site. If an LEA chooses to participate in this collection, the LEA will determine which educators will have access to each student’s results. OSSE will then link the PARCC/MSAA results between identified educators and current and/or former student(s) they worked/are working with in the 2015-16 or 2016-17 school year(s).

  • Completing the Educator-Student Linkage Collection Tool
    • Each LEA that would like to participate in the optional collection will be asked to fill out the 2016 PARCC MSAA Educator Reports Data Collection Tool Template. LEA-specific versions will be posted on QuickBase Oct. 17. Collections will run from Oct. 17 - Nov. 4, 2016. Full details on how to complete the collection are included in the first tab of the attached template [XLS].
    • A completed version of the “2016 PARCC/MSAA Educator Reports Data Collection Tool” should be uploaded in the QuickBase application by data managers by 5 p.m. ET on Nov. 4, 2016.
  • Educator Training and Gaining Access to SLED
    • Educators identified in the template by Nov. 4 will have access to SLED and the secure version of the results.osse.dc.gov website by Nov. 14, pending completion of a live webinar and signing the SLED Data Privacy Information form, which is attached.
    • Training: Before an educator is granted access to student PARCC/MSAA data, he or she must participate in mandatory SLED training and sign/submit the SLED Data Privacy Information Form. Registration is available for the following webinars:
      • Thursday, Nov. 10, from 10–11 a.m.
      • Thursday, Nov. 10, from 2-3 p.m.
      • Friday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
      • Friday, Nov. 11, from 1-2 p.m.

The planned template for the Educator-Student Linkages collection is available here [XLS]. Questions can be directed to Danielle Branson.
