DC families eligible for child care subsidies may choose care from a licensed child development facility or an in-home caregiver. Effective Oct. 1, 2024, families can request in-home care provided in the child’s home by a license-exempt caregiver with a valid Provider Agreement. In-home caregivers must meet specific health, safety and background requirements and may care for up to five children, with limits on infants and their own children.
