OSSE-DOT Operating Status, January 29 and 30, 2026
Dear Parents,
OSSE-DOT will resume student transportation services tomorrow, Thursday, January 29, 2026 and on Friday, January 30 on a two-hour delayed schedule both days. This means your student’s regularly scheduled pick-up time will be delayed by two hours.
Weather-related travel conditions may cause some bus routes to experience additional delays. Parents will be notified by text message if their child’s bus is delayed, and individual terminal route departure statuses will be posted to the Daily DOT Updates webpage.
All bus drivers are trained to assess neighborhood road and alleyway safety. If your street or sidewalk is deemed inaccessible for bus staff, your student will not be picked up, and you will be notified that an attempt was made via text notification from the Parent Resource Center. Please note, in these instances, if you choose to self-transport your student to school, the bus will be unable to transport your student home in the afternoon.
OSSE-DOT will offer reimbursement for any parents who choose to self-transport in cases of severely delayed or missed service.
If your student is absent from school because the bus is unable to pick them up, their absence from school may be excusable. Please notify your school of the absence in whatever way your school normally requires absence notification.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as services resume and thank families who are able to self-transport.
If you have questions, please contact the Parent Resource Center at (202) 576-5000. Please anticipate that call wait times will be higher than normal.
