The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) coordinates with private schools in the District of Columbia to meet local requirements, report data and facilitate participation in applicable support programs. OSSE also oversees communication and collaboration among private elementary and secondary schools and local education agencies (LEAs) to ensure timely and meaningful implementation of equitable services requirements for students with disabilities. OSSE oversees private schools’ compliance with D.C. Code § 38-205 by collecting annual enrollment data for all students of compulsory age enrolled in a private school in the District of Columbia.
