OSSE-DOT Update: Jan. 9, 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We deeply regret the challenges that you have experienced with service delivery from OSSE’s Division of Student Transportation.

OSSE DOT began running new bus routes for all students receiving services on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023. Staffing shortages and callouts have also required additional, real-time modifications to all student routes. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

We appreciate the patience and support we’ve received from you, and we will continue providing the best service possible as we work to address the labor shortage we are experiencing as we serve more than 3,600 students across the District.

We have offered incentives to reduce employee callouts and hosted hiring fairs to quickly fill vacancies, and we will continue using these strategies.

Families who experience service delays and provide transportation for their child will be eligible for reimbursement.

If you have questions or continue experiencing delays in service, please contact our Parent Resource Center at (202) 576-5000, Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wait times will be longer than normal and we ask that you stay on the line to receive support. Thank you for your patience.
