In accordance with Subtitle VII-B of The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act as reauthorized in December 2015 by Title IX, Part A, of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Office of the State Superintendent of Education is required to annually post the number of enrolled children and youth identified as homeless in public schools in the District of Columbia. The data reflects the number of students who experienced homelessness during specified school years. Students are included in this report if, at any point during those school years, they were determined to be homeless and enrolled in school. Children and youth who were not enrolled in school are not included in this report. Accordingly, the following homeless student data is the latest verified and certified statewide homeless student enrollment totals.
