The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is the State Education Agency for the District of Columbia charged with raising the quality of education for all DC residents. OSSE is focused on sustaining, accelerating, and deepening the progress being made for the District’s 90,000+ students. OSSE serves as the District’s liaison to the U.S. Department of Education and works closely with the District’s 470+ early childhood facilities, 250+ schools, 60+ local education agencies (including DCPS and charter organizations), and community-based organizations to provide critical programming and resources to our stakeholders.
The mission of CIO is charged with providing the full range of Information Technology support for internal users (network, telephone, computer hardware and software, and data management services) as well as external users (applications and analysis for the City, Schools, Students, and educational stakeholders), needed to drive outcomes for students and system improvements at all levels. The Management Analyst is responsible for analyzing the operations of the organization to ensure processes are functioning effectively to meet overall business needs.
This position is in the Office of State Superintendent of Education within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position serves as the Data Liaison within the CIO division. The incumbent will be responsible for providing direct support on various data systems to both internal and external customers via telephone, email, virtual or in-person meetings, and managing and responding to customer support tickets and various requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Specific functions of the Data Liaison include:
- Provide direct support to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) on various data systems to both internal and external customers via telephone, email, virtual or in-person meetings
- Manage a caseload of LEAs by responding to customer support tickets and various data requests in a timely and accurate manner
- Analyze internal and external customer issues and requests while working with other team members to perform system reviews and problem solve. Identifying areas to improve data systems, documentation, and other processes
- Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers for applications and software
Key qualifications for the role include:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology, business administration, education, or related fields and/or equivalent work experience
- Ability to independently and effectively collaborate with senior leadership, school staff, government agencies, and vendors regardless of technical expertise to provide guidance on data systems and process improvements.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, internal and external customers, and vendor staff at all levels of management
- Ability to grasp and interpret data systems quickly to provide responses to stakeholders surrounding the quality of data submissions

- An understanding of LEA Student Information System (SIS) eSchoolPlus (eSP)
- An understanding of Special Programs (SP)
- An understanding of the Statewide Longitudinal Education Data (SLED) site
