DC ReEngagement Center

MISSION: The DC ReEngagement Collaborative works with District local education agencies (LEAs) and schools to reduce and prevent youth disengagement from education, reduce chronic absenteeism, and empower and amplify District-wide support to scholars through agency partnership and collaboration.  

ABOUT: The DC ReEngagement Collaborative is housed within the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Division of Health & Wellness. We work with DC public and public charter schools to reduce and prevent youth disengagement from education, reduce chronic absenteeism, and support reengagement in education. We achieve this mission by providing technical assistance to schools as well as partnering with community-based organizations (CBOs) that serve youth to support school reengagement. 

Services Offered: 

  • Scholar ReEngagement Support: Support to disengaged youth to help find the best-fit educational placement and/or CBOS to provide barrier remediation support. 
  • Technical Assistance: Provide support to LEA and school communities aiming to reduce chronic absenteeism and disengagement from education. 

Eligibility Requirements for scholar referrals for disengaged youth 

  • Age: 16-24 years old 
  • Residence: DC resident or Ward of DC 
  • Education: No high school diploma or GED and not currently enrolled in school
