SY 2012-2013 School Level Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO) Data

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Per the ESEA Monitoring Report, additional data elements, including AMO data, are a required element of School and LEA Report Cards on LearnDC.org. OSSE thanks you for your feedback on the AMO data exhibits displayed April 11th - May 8th on the pre-live version of LearnDC.org. During the course of reviewing feedback it became clear that there is not a shared understanding of the policy and calculation method used to generate AMO targets – particularly in the case of new subgroups, changes to the original baseline school through school splits, and impacts of test integrity related invalidations.  Many of these (particularly the calculation of the same year AMO targets) are required by the Department of Education to ensure that all schools with eligible student sizes are evaluated for each AMO each year.

The attached document describes the overall policy, as well as provides examples of the method of calculation of AMO targets.  To assist in universal clarity OSSE will hold two conference calls to discuss the policy, methodology, and answer questions at:

  • Friday, May 16, 1pm - 2pm
  • Wednesday, May 2, 12pm - 1pm

Phone number: (605) 475-4350; Participant Access Code: 984769

Please feel free to ask questions of your particular circumstances via email or on the conference calls mentioned above. In response to the feedback received during our first conference call, an updated draft summary of the AMO calculation methodology and OSSE’s 2013 DC CAS Results Presentation are available.
