Accountability Waiver
The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is requesting a one-year waiver for the 2026-27 school year from the following statutory requirements in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):
- Statewide requirements in Section 1111(c)(4)(C) to meaningfully differentiate, on an annual basis, all public schools;
- Statewide requirements in Section 1111(c)(4)(D) to identify schools for comprehensive, targeted, and additional targeted support and improvement; and
- Statewide requirements in Section 1111(h)(1)(C)(i)(IV) to include the system for meaningful differentiation for all public schools on the annual state report card.
OSSE will post the full waiver request on this page prior to opening it for public comment.
Public Comment
As required by the US Department of Education (USED), OSSE will collect public comments beginning in February 2026. OSSE will consolidate and post all public comments on this page.
