Special Announcements and Updates

Effective Tuesday, June 30, 2020, the deadline is extended for a second time to Monday, Sept. 7, 2020 for completing the DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) online application and submitting all supporting documentation. In addition, the allowable supporting documentation has changed. You can read more about these changes and review a set of questions and answers here. Please note: Any references to either of the prior deadlines (June 30 or July 23) should be disregarded; we are currently in the process of updating the date on all documents.

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, DC Government employees have been operating on a telework schedule. Students, parents and guardians may continue to apply for DCTAG online and upload their supporting documentation. We will review applications electronically and send updates by email.

The DCTAG team is excited to share information with you about how you can use DCTAG to decrease the cost of college if you are an eligible DC student.

Students and families should explore the eligibility information and frequently asked questions on the Students & Families page. College access providers and other groups that directly support students will also find this information useful. Important Updates

  1. The deadline to complete the online application and submit all needed documents has been extended again to Monday, Sept. 7, 2020.
  2. Families have additional supporting documentation options related to allowable tax forms. Please review the information on the Prepare page or in the revised guidance document released June 30, 2020.
  3. This year, the DCTAG application process will include two options to submit required DCTAG documents. You can read more about this update on the Apply & Submit page.
  4. Please note: Updated information on DCTAG Maximum Income for new applicants is available. If you have questions, please contact your DCTAG Counselor.

Background

The DC Tuition Assistance Program (DCTAG) was created by Congress in 1999 by the District of Columbia College Access Act; PL 106-98 and amended by DC College Access Improvement Act 2002 and DC College Access Improvement Act 2007 to expand higher education choices for college-bound residents of the District of Columbia.
