NAEP 2019 TUDA Results - Fourth Grade Reading

Overall Results

  • In 2019, the average score of fourth-grade students in District of Columbia was 214. This was higher than the average score of 212 for students in large cities.
  • The average score for students in District of Columbia in 2019 (214) was not significantly different from their average score in 2017 (213) and was higher than their average score in 2002 (191).
  • The percentage of students in District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Proficient level was 32 percent in 2019. This percentage was not significantly different from that in 2017 (29 percent) and was higher than that in 2002 (10 percent).
  • The percentage of students in District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Basic level was 57 percent in 2019. This percentage was not significantly different from that in 2017 (55 percent) and was higher than that in 2002 (31 percent).
