OSSE collects data on school gardens through the School Health Profiles, a self-reported school based health questionnaire completed annually by all public schools and public charter schools, as required by the Healthy Schools Act DC Official Code § 38–826.02. The data collected in the School Health Profiles serve as a comprehensive means for monitoring and evaluating schools pursuant to the requirements under the Healthy Schools Act. The School Health Profile data, along with other data sources such as the School Garden Assessment Tool, School Garden Snapshot, site visit reports, and data sharing from partner organizations, provide OSSE with a broad picture of the school garden program activities across the District.
