Part 4: Use Multiple Data Sources to Support English Learner Students and Programs

Given that EL students may not have ACCESS scores or other state content test data to guide placement and goal decisions, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, educators must draw on other sources of data to interpret EL students’ current English proficiency and academic levels. This interactive session provides strategies and tools for using multiple sources of data to understand EL students’ current levels and develop purposeful language and academic plans, even without ACCESS test scores. Participants will walk away prepared to:

  1. Assess and support ELs’ English language proficiency and academic level related to grade-level standards, and
  2. Develop language goals and an instructional plan to address those language goals.
