On November 7, 2014, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) hosted a series of institutes geared towards connecting the District's Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to critical resources to support student achievement. Select a strand below in order to view the presentations:
Strand One: Information Sharing/Awareness Sessions
Purpose: These sessions are designed to give participants the opportunity to meet with agency representatives to learn about key resources and identify points of contact for schools.
Presentations Included:
- Session 1: Department of Health (DOH), Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), and Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF)
- Session 2: Rehabilitation Services Agency (RSA), Department of Human Services (DHS), and the Department of Employment Services (DOES)
- Session 3: Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA), Youth Re-Engagement Center (REC), and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)
- Session 4: Court Social Services (CSS), Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS)
Strand Two: "Deep Dive" Facilitated Problem Solving Sessions
Purpose: These sessions are facilitated working groups that bring key city agencies and schools together to address complex challenges.
Presentations Included:
- Session 1: Truancy and Absenteeism: Creating a Plan for School/Agency Collaboration
- Session 2: Student Information Sharing: Addressing Interagency Coordination Challenges
- Session 3: Behavioral Crises in Schools: Supporting Children's Social and Emotional Needs
