The Office of State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) has formed the DC Educator Talent Pool to recognize and leverage the expertise of outstanding District of Columbia educators. While the DC Educator Talent Pool is not an award in and of itself, it is used as a resource for awards, development of practitioner committees, targeted professional learning activities and much more.
The DC Educator Talent Pool includes teachers, specialists, principals and administrators who are outstanding, innovative and dedicated to education. Members of the DC Educator Talent Pool provide invaluable service and expertise to the DC educational community by participating in communities of practice, serving on peer review panels, helping to select outstanding educators for recognition awards and participating in statewide stakeholder engagement committees where the voice of K-12 practitioners is vital.
2025-26 Educator Talent Pool Recommendation Process
OSSE is seeking recommendations for teachers and school leaders currently serving in K-12 public school environments to join the 2025-26 DC Educator Talent Pool. Thank you for taking the time to share your insights on DC’s top educators!
Specifically, OSSE is looking for nominations for individuals who:
- Exhibit strong potential for professional leadership
- Embody an inspiring presence which impacts students, colleagues and their community
- Consistently develop and deliver strong lessons which provide models for their colleagues
- Are recognized by peers and supervisors as unique in their leadership and results with students
- Have at least five years of experience in education
- Currently work in a DCPS or DC public charter school
- Plans to continue working in a school setting beyond the 2025-26 school year
If you know a teacher or school leader who exemplifies these outstanding qualities, please nominate them to be a member of the Educator Talent Pool!
The nomination process for the Educator Talent Pool is a confidential process. The first step is to complete the 2025-26 District of Columbia Outstanding Educator Nomination Form. The OSSE team will follow-up with the formal Educator Talent Pool Nomination Form.
