Washington, DC - The US Department of Education announced today the 16 semifinalists in the Race to the Top grant application process.

The states that will have the chance to present their applications in person are Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Tennessee. 

The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) extends congratulations to all the semifinalists. “We recognize the hard work of all state authorities that are working to improve public education, and we continue to hope the federal government will support the reform efforts in every state,” said NASBE Executive Director Brenda Welburn.
