State Board of Education to Host Public Hearing on Education in the 21st Century

Tuesday, December 2, 2008
The public hearing is Wednesday, December 3.

The District of Columbia State Board of Education will hold a public hearing Wednesday, December 3, 2008. At the meeting, the State Board of Education will receive input from the public on education in the 21st century.

The District of Columbia is committed more than ever before to developing a world-class school system in our city.  Critical to this undertaking is a shared District-wide vision for this education reform, ensuring that the urgent work being embarked on now will result in a comprehensive system capable of providing all District students with a high-quality education.

At the public hearing on December 3, the OSSE will be presenting a document which represents the beginning steps toward a framework that would be used to develop and build upon that shared vision.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm at 441 4th Street NW, in the District of Columbia State Board of Education Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

Constituents who wish to comment at the meeting are required to notify the State Board of Education in advance by contacting the Executive Director, Beverley Wheeler, by phone at (202) 741-0888 or by email at [email protected].
