OSSE Releases Interim Report on Ballou/DCPS Investigation
Today OSSE has released an interim report, Analysis of Attendance and Graduation Outcomes at Public High Schools in DC. The report contains:
- A review of attendance and graduation in public schools in DC;
- A review of the Public Charter School Board’s graduation policies and procedures; and
- An interim report on the audit and investigation of Ballou High School by Alvarez & Marsal.
OSSE has undertaken this investigation to fulfill the goal of understanding the state of attendance and graduation in DC’s public high schools, and to better inform next steps for our schools and policy makers. The timeline for the investigation set forth by the Mayor underscored the importance of understanding any gaps in implementation from past years as soon as possible, in order to make necessary changes for currently enrolled students that will best support their educational outcomes. The final report from Alvarez & Marsal is due to be submitted by the end of January, and will be made public shortly thereafter.
