The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Division of Specialized Education, will hold public hearings to discuss a proposed policy entitled “Proposed Policies for Implementing Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.”

As the state education agency (SEA), OSSE is required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part C (IDEA Part C) to develop policies that ensure compliance with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  These policies are proposed in order to ensure continued compliance with the federal regulations.   

The proposed policy will be posted for a 60 day public comment period commencing Friday, February 15, 2013 and closing April 16, 2013.  Two public hearings will be held.  The first hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. The second and final hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 1, 2013 from 1:30pm – 3:00pm.  The comment period begins Friday, February 15, 2013 and concludes Tuesday, April 16, 2013.  All comments received by 5 pm Tuesday, April 16, 2013 will be considered.
