The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires states to adopt the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) for the purpose of providing instructional materials to blind persons or other persons with print disabilities.
The adoption of NIMAS will support local education agencies (LEAs) in their work to ensure that eligible students have the widest range of supports and services available under the law to ensure access to the general curriculum.
A summary of the proposed policy is included in the public hearing notice. Persons are encouraged to read the proposed policy for full detail.
