Mayor Bowser to Join District Families at EdFEST

District's education fair showcases more than 200 public schools and includes health screenings, immunizations, and other resources for students and families

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Saturday, December 9, Mayor Muriel Bowser, Deputy Mayor for Education Jennifer Niles, State Superintendent of Education Hanseul Kang, District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Antwan Wilson, and DC Public Charter School Board Executive Director Scott Pearson will join thousands of District families at EdFEST 2017.

EdFEST is a showcase of schools where families can talk to representatives from every DCPS and public charter school across the city and get help finding the best fit for their child. Families may also take advantage of critical services including:

  • Lottery application information and guidance from the My School DC team.
  • Flu shots for adults and immunization and dental screenings for children, administered through the District Department of Health and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
  • Recreational activities for all ages by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), including information about DPR Fun Days, Winter and Spring Break Camps, and Cooperative Play.
  • Story time with DC Public Library as well as library card registration and sign-ups for the Books from Birth program.
