DCSAA and Wendy’s Announce Sponsorship Agreement

Tuesday, November 19, 2013
Washington, DC - The District of Columbia State Athletic Association (DCSAA) announced today a sponsorship agreement with DavCo Restaurants, Inc., the local franchise of Wendy’s. The new partnership establishes the franchise as the association’s official restaurant for the 2013-14 school year.

“There is no question that through its many initiatives Wendy’s is committed to our nation’s student-athletes,” said DCSAA Executive Director Clark Ray. “We are extremely proud to put this agreement in place and have our student-athletes benefit from Wendy’s generosity.”

As part of the agreement, DavCo Restaurants, Inc. will sponsor a $1,000 college scholarship for an athlete at a DCSAA-member school in each of 10 sports: boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ cross-country, boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field, boys’ and girls’ outdoor track and field, volleyball and cheerleading. Scholarship recipients will be announced in the spring.

In addition to the scholarships, DavCo Restaurants, Inc. will make a $5,000 contribution to DCSAA, which will help the state sanctioning body continue its mission of improving the extracurricular experience for students across the District.

“We are excited to begin our partnership with the DCSAA and look forward to a long relationship supporting the student athletes and their families, and the many coaches who play an important role in developing these young adults”, commented Rick Borchers, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In addition to DavCo’s annual contribution to the DCSAA, the partnership will allow opportunities for member schools to take advantage of fundraising opportunities utilizing both the Wendy’s restaurants and Wendy’s branded items.
