DCLEAP Eligibility Letters Mailed to Students

Monday, August 22, 2005
While SEO was upgrading the new system, it experienced delays with the delivery of award letters for the DCLEAP program

(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia State Education Office (SEO) launched its new online funding program management system as an added feature to the DC OneApp online application.  DC OneApp’s management system streamlines the applications, institution management, and disbursement processes for the DC Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (DCLEAP), DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG), and DC Adoption Scholarship programs.  The system gained full operation last week, on August 17, 2005.

While SEO was upgrading the new system, it experienced delays with the delivery of award letters for the DCLEAP program. To mitigate the delay, SEO sent over 4,000 letters to students indicating DCLEAP eligibility for the 2005-2006 school year.  SEO developed these letters for students who need to provide information to their schools before the traditional LEAP award letters are ready.

SEO will send out the traditional DCLEAP award letters once the information has been received by the colleges and universities, probably within the next 30 days.

Note: This delay has no effect on DCTAG eligibility.  Students who submitted applications and all supporting documentation by the June 24, 2005, deadline have received Letters of Eligibility.

If a student has not received an eligibility letter for DCLEAP or DCTAG, he or she should contact the State Education Office immediately at (202) 727-6436.
