DC State Board of Education Honors 2011 Teacher of the Year Jon Nathaniel Rolle

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education Teacher of the Year Award recognizes a teacher who is dedicated to excellence in teaching and engages students in progressive, quality education.

(Washington, DC) – The District of Columba State Board of Education (DCSBOE) and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) honors Jon Nathaniel Rolle as the 2011 Teacher of the Year. Mr. Rolle and two finalists, Julianna Tabor and Oliver Jones, were presented awards at the public meeting on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education Teacher of the Year Award recognizes a teacher who is dedicated to excellence in teaching and engages students in progressive, quality education. Mr. Rolle serves as a 3rd grade teacher of an all-boys class at Friendship Public Charter School’s Southeast Academy. The 2011 Teacher of the Year is proud of his ability to impact students’ academic and personal decisions by setting high expectations and pursuing positive outcomes.

As the winner of the 2011 Teacher of the Year Award, Mr. Rolle will receive a monetary award of $3,000 and serve as an ambassador of education throughout the nation.
