DC State Board of Education Holds Regularly Scheduled Public Meeting May 20

The DC State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will hold its regularly scheduled public meeting Wednesday, May 20, 2009. At this meeting, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education will present to the DCSBOE the option of adding biology as a graduation requirement and the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) report card.

The State Board will also hear two presentations from the Safe Web Group and the United Nations Association.  The Safe Web Group offers training for children on how to safely access the internet. The United Nations Association will present on the Global Classrooms Program; which uses the experience of Model United Nations to bring international education into classrooms across the US and abroad and whose curriculum cultivates global literacy and leadership.

The public meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at 441 4th Street, NW, in the District of Columbia State Board of Education Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

Constituents who wish to comment at the meeting are required to notify the State Board of Education in advance by contacting the Executive Director, Beverley Wheeler, by phone at (202) 741-0884 or by email at [email protected] before the close of business Monday, May 18, 2009. Please provide one electronic copy and bring 15 copies to the hearing for the State Board members to view.
