The DC State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will have a public meeting on December 16, 2009.  The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) will present the English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards to the members of the State Board. The ELP Standards were developed in partnership with the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium. WIDA is a consortium of 21 states dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language learners. The District of Columbia was the fourth state to join the WIDA Consortium, in 2004. 

The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 5:30 pm at 441 4th Street, NW, in the District of Columbia State Board of Education Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

Constituents who wish to comment at the meeting are required to notify the State Board of Education in advance by contacting the Executive Director, Beverley Wheeler, by phone at (202) 741-0884 or by email at [email protected] 24 hours before the scheduled meeting time. Please provide one electronic copy and bring fifteen copies to the hearing for the State Board members to view.
