DC State Board of Education Holds Public Meeting on Science Graduation Requirements for High School Students

The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 5:30 pm at 441 4th Street, NW, in the Old Council Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

Washington, DC – The District of Columba State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will hold a public meeting on recommendations to revise the science requirements needed to obtain a high school diploma in the District of Columbia Public Education System.  In addition, the State Board of Education will recognize Shira Fishman of McKinley Technology High School who recently won the 2011 Milken Educator Award.  Ms. Fishman is in her seventh year of teaching and serves as the Math Department Chair at McKinley Technology High School.

The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 5:30 pm at 441 4th Street, NW, in the Old Council Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

Constituents who wish to comment at the meeting are required to notify the staff in advance by contacting the Office of the DC State Board of Education by phone at (202) 741-0888 or by email at [email protected]. Please provide one electronic copy in advance and bring fifteen copies to the hearing for the State Board members to view.

The meeting will air live on District Knowledge Network (DKN) Comcast Channel 99, RCN Channel 18, and Fios Channel 12.
