Monday, January 26, 2009
OSSE will present on the Statewide longitudinal Education Data (SLED) system.

Contact:  Beverley Wheeler, (202) 741-0884

The newly sworn-in members of the DC State Board of Education will elect their president and vice president at their first meeting of the year, January 28, 2009. The State Board members represent the District’s eight wards plus one at-large member. The State Board also includes three student representatives from District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools.

At the meeting, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) will make a presentation on the Statewide Longitudinal Education Data (SLED) system. The SLED system is an electronic repository of data for all DC Public Schools and education entities. The SLED allows for students, teachers, schools, and overall student achievement patterns to be tracked within one system.

The public meeting will begin at 5:30 pm at 441 4th Street, NW, in the District of Columbia State Board of Education Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

Constituents who wish to comment at the public meeting are required to notify the State Board of Education in advance by contacting the Executive Director, Beverley Wheeler, by phone at (202) 741-0884 or by email at [email protected] before the close of business Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Those constituents who plan to comment are asked to provide one electronic copy of their testimony and to bring fifteen hard copies to the hearing.

The meeting will air live on DSTV Comcast Channel 99 and RCN Channel 18.
