WHAT/WHO: The high-school girls’ softball teams of DC public schools and independent schools will compete in the District’s first softball tournament, hosted by the DC State Athletic Association.

Meeting the goals of the DCSAA, the tournament will foster inter-District high school sports participation, enhance the validity of the championship title, and promote greater recognition for District athletes.

WHEN/WHERE: Tuesday, May 14, 2013 – Saturday, March 18, 2013
All quarter-final and semi-final matches will be played at the higher seeds home field, unless noted otherwise.

BACKGROUND: DCSAA’s newly-formatted tournament consists of participants from DC public, private, parochial, independent and charter school sports teams.

The District’s public, private, parochial, independent, and charter school sports teams have the opportunity to compete against each other as a result of DCSAA’s formation in 2012 by Mayor Vincent C. Gray and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).
