DC SBOE Holds Public Hearing on April 30 on Supplemental Education Service Information

Supplemental Education Services are Afterschool Instructional Programs Designed to Increase the Achievement of Eligible Students in Schools in Need of Improvement

(Washington, DC) On Wednesday, April 30, 2008, the State Board of Education will hold a public hearing to gather the public’s views on the proposed policies for Supplemental Education Service providers. Supplemental Education Services are afterschool instructional programs designed to increase the achievement of eligible students in schools in need of improvement.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm at 441 4th Street, NW, in the Old Council Chambers on the ground floor.

Constituents who wish to testify at the hearing are required to contact Beverley Wheeler, State Board of Education Executive Director, at 741-0888, by fax at 741-0879, or via email at [email protected],  provide your name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) by 4:00pm Monday, April 28, 2008.  Those who wish to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony, by the close of business on April 28, 2008; the testimony will be distributed to State Board of Education members before the hearing.
 
The hearing will air live on DSTV Comcast Channel 99 and RCN Channel 18.
