DC Hosts First National School Breakfast Week Celebration March 6-10

Students Will Be Offered Food from Special Menus

On Monday, March 6th and Tuesday March 7th, representatives from the US Department of Agriculture, DC Public Schools, DC Public Charter Schools and food advocates will take part in the District’s first National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) Celebration. Special menus are planned and breakfast will be served. The theme for the week of March 6-10 is “Go Places with School Breakfast.”

 WHAT:
The School Breakfast Program began as a pilot project in 1966, and was made permanent in 1975. National School Breakfast Week is designed to help raise awareness of and garner support for the role that school foodservice and nutrition programs play in the lives of America’s children today and in the strength of America tomorrow.
