Culturally competent strategies for working with immigrant populations will be the focus of this interactive, multi-media workshop. Fairfax County Public Schools, in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institute, implemented two successful programs: Today I’m Here and Becoming Delores . These programs focused on how reflections of personal experience strengthened identity and family bonds to inspire advocacy. Attendees will learn to model an intergenerational, multi-media workshop designed to strengthen individual families and engage community partners. Workshop participants will receive customizable resources and templates for replication in their respective schools, districts, and communities.
