The District of Columbia Secondary Transition Process Toolkit was designed to assist educators in effectively addressing the transition planning needs of students with disabilities who are preparing to transition from high school to postsecondary employment, education/training, and independent living.
This guide was developed using Federal and District of Columbia policies, procedures, and regulations.
While this guide is intended to assist educators to understand and apply best practices in secondary transition planning, this guide is not meant to:
- Be a complete explanation of all special education laws and regulations;
- Give legal advice; or,
- Supersede any local and/or Federal law.
We hope you find this toolkit useful and welcome your feedback.
