Required Fire Safety Inspections Pay Process for Licensed Child Development Facilities

All child development homes, expanded child development homes and child development centers, are required to undergo an annual fire safety inspection and post or possess a fire safety inspection certification or other equivalent proof from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Service (FEMS) that the premise(s) comply with all applicable federal and District of Columbia fire safety laws, regulations and codes.

Effective immediately and until Sept. 30, 2025, OSSE will continue to pay for the fire safety review and inspection services provided by the Department of Buildings (DOB) and FEMSD in connection with the initial licensing and license renewal of a child development home, expanded child development home and child development center, as required by 5A DCMR 103.5 (b) and 5A DCMR 104.5 (a).
