• In 2022, the average score of students in the District of Columbia was 214. This was higher than the average score of 209 for students in large cities.
• The average score for students in the District of Columbia in 2022 (214) was not significantly different than that of 2019 (214) but higher than their scores in 2002 (191).
• The percentage of students in the District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Proficient level was 32 percent in 2022. This percentage was not significantly different than that in 2019 (32 percent) but higher than that in 2003 (10 percent).
• The percentage of students in the District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Basic level was 55 percent in 2022. This percentage was not significant different than that in 2019 (57 percent) and was higher than that in 2002 (31 percent)
