Overall Results
- In 2022, the average score of students in the District of Columbia was 249. This was lower than the average score of 255 for students in large cities.
- The average score for students in the District of Columbia in 2022 (249) was not significantly different than that of 2019 (251) but higher than their scores in 2002 (240).
- The percentage of students in the District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Proficient level was 23 percent in 2022. This percentage was not significantly different than that in 2019 (26 percent) but higher than that in 2002 (10 percent).
- The percentage of students in the District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Basic level was 56 percent in 2022. This percentage was not significant different than that in 2019 (58 percent) and was higher than that in 2002 (48 percent)
