Overall Results
- In 2022, the average score of students in the District of Columbia was 257. This was lower than the average score of 266 for students in large cities.
- The average score for students in the District of Columbia in 2022 (257) was lower than that of 2019 (269) but higher than their scores in 2002 (243).
- The percentage of students in the District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Proficient level was 17 percent in 2022. This percentage was smaller than that in 2019 (24 percent) but higher than that in 2003 (6 percent).
- The percentage of students in the District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Basic level was 42 percent in 2022. This percentage was smaller than that in 2019 (53 percent) and was higher than that in 2002 (29 percent)
