Overall Results
- In 2019, the average score of fourth-grade students in District of Columbia was 214. This was lower than the average score of 219 for students in the nation.
- The average score for students in District of Columbia in 2019 (214) was not significantly different from their average score in 2017 (213) and was higher than their average score in 1998 (179).
- The percentage of students in District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Proficientlevel was 30 percent in 2019. This percentage was not significantly different from that in 2017 (29 percent) and was higher than that in 1998 (10 percent).
- The percentage of students in District of Columbia who performed at or above the NAEP Basiclevel was 57 percent in 2019. This percentage was not significantly different from that in 2017 (56 percent) and was higher than that in 1998 (27 percent).
