This presentation will provide information using real-life classroom experiences in addition to sample classroom images showing daily teacher-child interactions and family engagement. It will also focus on peer interaction fostering a positive self-image using non-stereotypical materials such as multicultural books, puppets, and songs. You will be introduced to methods of tying home culture to classrooms in authentic ways, including language use; print-rich environments and activities led by families will be shared. At the end of the session, attendees will expand their knowledge on how to create culturally responsive classrooms promoting fairness.
