The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Division of Specialized Education (DSE), issued the “Confidentiality of Student Information Policy” on January 27, 2014.  The Policy is effective as of March 3, 2014. The Policy governs procedures for ensuring the confidentiality of educational records with personally identifiable information in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). To assist LEAs in implementing the requirements of this policy, OSSE DSE has provided this frequently asked questions (FAQ) guidance document, containing additional clarification.
