Preparing for Assessments with Strengthened Supports (PASS) PARCC Training

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education, in collaboration with Charter School Essentials will be offering professional development opportunities for teachers, administrators, and school leaders in the District of Columbia. The P.A.S.S. PARCC training sessions will enable educators across DC to effectively prepare their students for the PARCC assessment by providing interactive workshops, targeted support, and quality resources that:

  • Build an understanding of student-centered instruction and performance-based tasks;
  • Provide user-friendly materials that can be immediately implemented in the classroom;
  • Differentiate support by offering resources and guidance on subject-specific areas such as reading, writing, and math, and recommendations for working with students with special needs and English Language Learners;
  • Reach a wide-range of educators through webinars and materials posted on the online tool that can be accessed at all times;
  • Offer tips for online test-taking strategies, disaggregating data, and enabling parents to support schools' efforts to prepare students for PARCC;
  • Create opportunities for educators of similar subjects and grades to gather in-person and online to reflect as a group on their successes and challenges while focusing on specific strategies and resources necessary to improve educational outcomes.

Click on the attached flyer for more information on these free PARCC training opportunities or contact Abreyon Moses at [email protected], 202-478-5993 for more information.
